2011 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Religion

The North American Patristics Society is a scholarly organization dedicated to the study of the history, literature, and theology of ancient Christianity. Founded in 1970, the Society welcomes a diversity of disciplinary and methodological approaches and invites the participation of scholars at all stages of their careers; NAPS boasts a large and active graduate student membership. Among the Society’s major activities are the sponsorship of an annual conference in Chicago, Illinois, and the publication of The Journal of Early Christian Studies.

“EASTERN EUROPE STILL MATTERS” is the theme for the 2011 conference hosted by Christians Associated for Relationships with Eastern Europe (CAREE ) and New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) Center for World Christianity at NYTS and the Micah Institute at NYTS.

The CAREE and NYTS 2011 conference “EASTERN EUROPE STILL MATTERS” will consider why interest in the region has declined, why Eastern Europe remains important, and developments there which invite attention from scholars, political leaders, those who work for civil society, and religious leaders.
