ANNUAL MEETING 2012

Description & Date
Dates:
Thursday, 20 September 2012 - 12:00pm to Saturday, 22 September 2012 - 1:00pm

The Orthodox Theological Society will hold its 2012 Annual Meeting between September 20-22, at St. Vladimir’'s Theological Seminary, in Crestwood, NY.

You are invited to propose individual papers or panel discussions on any topic related to Orthodox theological thought.  In addition to this open call for papers, presentations on “"Orthodoxy and the Political"” are especially encouraged. In an election year, when American society is much divided, Orthodoxy needs to address questions of "“ecclesiology ad extra,"” such as the following: What was the relationship between the Church and the Byzantine Empire? How can Orthodoxy be more involved in the American context? In a divided society, what are the ways towards a unified American Orthodoxy?

Please submit your proposal by May 1, 2012,at secretary@otsamerica.org.

We are honored to announce that the Very Rev. Dr. John Behr, Dean and Professor of Patristics at St. Vladimir'’s Seminary, will offer this year'’s Florovsky Lecture on Friday, September 21, at 7:30 PM.
