The Diakonia of Liturgy

Abstract:
This paper presents liturgy as leitourgia—the work of the people for the salvation of the world. In our liturgical celebration we use words and actions to demonstrate our love of, concern for, and service to the other. This paper will focus on these aspects of our liturgical celebration as well as highlight ways we can connect the cult with service to the other outside the ritual celebration. The latter aspect will focus primarily on the philanthropic dimension of the diaconate.
